This is a non-technical, flat to gently rolling lakeside trail following the shores of Lake Wakatipu around the Frankton Arm between Queenstown and Kelvin Heights. The lake views are stunning and the trail is wide and well-formed. It is also an extremely popular walking trail and cyclists must give way to walkers.
- Start the ride at the southern end of Queenstown Bay, at the Queenstown Gardens entrance
- Follow around the Gardens peninsula trail and turn right into Park Street.
- Follow Park Street to access the entrance to the Frankton track along Frankton Arm
- The ride continues from Frankton Beach (where public toilets are available) over the historic one-lane Kawarau Falls bridge above the Kawarau River outlet to Lake Wakatipu
- Descend hard right immediately after crossing the bridge and follow the track, now on the other side of Frankton Arm, as far as Kelvin Grove and the entrance to the Queenstown Golf Club at Kelvin Heights
